This Katie Holmes type of classic bob style has slight layers at the back.  The forward section of the sides can be left longer for the classic look, while the fringe is cut below the eye brows and left full, but slightly thinned out. 

To get this type of Color you mix chocolate with a purple to highlight, which will give depth and shine.
