Chapter 1

It was finally happening.  It seemed to have taken an eternity, but after all our hard work and persistence we were finally going to see what was hidden behind the Golden Door.  The anticipation was unbearable, but we knew it would only be a matter of moments before we would be in the presence of something so incredible that just by laying eyes on it, the world as we know it would change forever.  Many had tried in vain to find the hidden passageways that had been mentioned in the ancient writings.  Most scholars in the past had come to the conclusion that there was nothing beneath the Sphinx, while others, usually those regarded as ‘crack pots’, believed that there were many passageways leading to chambers just waiting to be discovered.  Well, we had finally found the entrance to them all.  Behind this doorway we hoped to find the answers to all of humanities questions.   It had been a long and arduous battle to get here, but here we stood.  Of course, even after fighting the seemingly endless opposition, we still had to find a way in.  Even though we knew we held the Key, we still had to figure out how to use it.

As the three of us held hands and tried to clear our minds, I suddenly felt a surge or energy rush through me and the memories of all the events leading to this moment came flooding back.
